Walking Through Doorways

We worked with an important new morning exercise at our meeting Thursday evening. The practice from Gurdjieff is a means of working with the second being food -- air -- to charge the energy centers connecting the physical body with the body of the inner life. We begin building a force and center of gravity in our Being. Let me know if you have any questions about the details of the exercise.  In case you were unable to join we will repeat the practice in coming weeks.

Our theme continues with the inquiry "What world am I in right now?" This is in the context of the teaching that we can shift the locus of awareness into a world within our nature that is more free, less encumbered, more energetic and intelligent, and with greater reality. We work to transform the material that is the media of a finer world and serve as an instrument for the intelligence of that domain.

A further practice is to come into the world of presence as we walk through doorways. It is a big thing and requires much vigilance. I have to set it as a strong aim first thing in the morning and renew the intention throughout the day. It helps to pause (without appearing awkward in public) at the doorway, come into our atmosphere and a sense of balanced wholeness, and inwardly (or aloud) affirm "I AM HERE".

This exercise can help us begin to let our inner work penetrate more deeply into the ordinary moments of life.
