Attention

In our Harmonious Development meeting last Thursday we spoke about attention as a capacity of Being. Attention is a powerful force that can lead to suggestibility and obsession, or serve as a catalyst of inner work and transformation.

We are invited first to observe and study the state of our attention-- to come to see for ourselves-- and notice when attention is captured and when attention is free to be directed.

To facilitate the observation and study of the faculty of attention we have a being-effort:

Our practice is in the context of relating to others -- listen to the sound of the voice of the person who is speaking. As you notice that attention goes to thoughts, interpretations, reactions, try and bring it back to the sound and timbre of the voice (even our own voice as we speak).
